A ministry of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, North East Emergency Food Program and Clothing Closet provides much needed emergency food and clothing to over 11,000 individuals annually. Housed in the Luther Memorial Basement, clients are met by NEFP volunteers from Luther Memorial, and congregations and organizations from throughout the Portland metro area. Each client is provided a personal shopper to assist them in making a food box that is appropriate to their unique needs. Food and funds is donated to NEFP by congregations and individuals. Food is purchased through the Oregon Food Bank.
DON'T NEED ASSISTANCE BUT WOULD LIKE TO SERVE YOUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED. Volunteers are always needed and welcome at NEFP! Come and share the love!

Christmas In July
Members of Luther Memorial are committed to helping our neighbors in need with those items that do not qualify for government assistance, like: hygiene items, toilet paper, diapers, baby wipes, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Each July items are gathered to be distributed by North East Emergency Food Program. In 2010 over 276 pounds of personal care plus a large number of diapers items were provided.
School Supplies
Each year thousands of children begin the school year without the basic supplies they need to be successful. Luther Memorial is committed to the children in our community. Each year we gather school supplies to be distributed through our neighborhood school. Last year over 300 lbs of school supplies and 12 backpacks were provided.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt Craft Fair and Hot Dog Feast
Every child is a wonderful gift from God to the world. At Luther Memorial we want each and every child to know that they are precious and to hear the wonderful story of Jesus life, death and resurrection. Every Holy Saturday, the members of Luther Memorial are prepared to greet over 100 children from the community with smiles and lots of fun. There's face painting, table crafts, and Easter Eggs filled with wonderful treats and small prizes. The families enjoy a hot dog lunch and a great time gathering as community. It's fun for all.
